High Turnover - Little Action Taken to Improve - Anonymous employee MedGlobal Employee Review

Pros

The mission and vision of the organization is important. HQ and field staff are hard-working, friendly, and dedicated people. The ability to work remotely on an international team could be seen as a plus. There is a direct line of communication with field staff, so there is more of a tether between HQ and the field teams than at other INGOs.

Cons

High turnover has negatively impacted staff morale, and while there are some efforts to improve morale, the issues that have led to high turnover continue to be ignored by leadership. Being overworked and underpaid is the norm - a reality that seems unlikely to change. There are no apparent boundaries on the role of the President, which muddles the authority of the Executive Director. Time off is difficult to take when everyone is working at capacity and there is little support within departments. Pay is well under market value.

Pros

MedGlobal is comprised of truly dedicated individuals. The on-the-ground team and daily operational staff are genuinely committed to helping people.

Cons

Disappointing management. Should you have the opportunity to work there, you'll find it's operated primarily to satisfy the ego of a rather narrow-minded, insecure individual. Many of his actions and statements could have potentially led to legal action. However, the staff, although wonderful, are undervalued, which explains why, instead of voicing concerns, many choose to simply resign.
