Pros

you get to learn about big artists and their markets, good exposure to the art world hands on with all areas of the company, promoting where you'd like to learn OK salary and good benefits

Cons

always tweaking with analytics and overhiring feels like they are cooking the books for their investors, one reason youll never see masterworks go public ceo doesnt have a great moral compass in regards to the promoting the retail investments and buying the acquistions themselves, also doesnt set a great example for the young men who work for him

Pros

I’ve had the chance to work on genuinely interesting problems at the intersection of art, finance, technology, and operations. The work is not repetitive; there are always real business problems to solve, and there is a lot of room to build tools, improve processes, and take ownership. The people are a major strength. Teams are collaborative, smart, and generally willing to jump in when something needs to get figured out. I’ve also appreciated that individual contributors can have meaningful impact here, especially if they are proactive and comfortable working across functions. The office, lunches, and overall environment are also strong positives, but for me the biggest benefit has been the ability to work on complex operational systems and actually see the impact of the work.

Cons

Because the company moves quickly, processes and documentation can sometimes lag behind the pace of the work. Some teams are lean, so there can be a lot of context switching and ownership can occasionally be unclear until someone steps in and drives it.

Pros

Masterworks is a genuinely fun and energizing place to work. The product itself is fascinating — you're sitting right at the intersection of tech, finance, and fine art, which makes the subject matter endlessly interesting and keeps you learning constantly. The people are the best part. Coworkers are really cool, smart, and interesting, and it's a younger, high-energy crowd that brings a lot of fun to the day-to-day. It's a genuinely collaborative environment where everyone is always willing to answer questions and problem-solve together. Plenty of managers and teammates actively champion your growth and treat you with respect. There's real opportunity for internal mobility — great work gets recognized and rewarded. I've seen people get promoted within nine months and promoted multiple times when they earn it. The perks don't hurt either: free catered lunches are amazing, the office is beautiful and in a great location, and there's a strong sense of community built through social events, lunch-and-learns, and team gatherings. The start-up culture means things move fast and you get exposure to a lot.

Cons

Things move quickly and priorities can shift, so it helps to be comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.
