Pros

The pay is decent, and the work is not hard. The students are difficult to engage, but if you have a good classroom management, you can teach. A lot of retention stipends, but look into the fine print.

Cons

They get you in there with all sorts of monetary incentives, but do not show you the stipulation of attendance. The stipends are paid in December and May, so they can manage the attendance stipulation. There is a limit to 3 days off taken during a semester or you forfeit your stipend. I had a medical situation and a death in the family that kept me out for 3 weeks. They sent an email stating that they were going to keep my stipend. I went and spoke to HR and they chose to give the half-year stipend in December. In the spring, I took 5 days off, all were approved in the system, including 1 medical emergency and one Drs appointment. I stated all of the reasons I took off. The email I got was they were not able to accommodate my request. I would look carefully into the rules of their stipends before accepting a position. The stipend was for teaching a specific class, which was taught on Mondays and Wednesdays only (block scheduling). Every day that I requested off or took off for illness was on either a Tuesday or Thursday. So, the reasoning for the stipend stipulation, "to ensure there is no disruption in the learning environment", did not even apply.
