Pros

Company specific: this company has 5+ years of content and relationship building under it's belt. In the past 12 months they have hired 4 new senior managers, including a new CEO, that are very experienced and capable. They have brought a lot of confidence, and are fun to work with. Speed of development has never been higher. The vibe is very positive. Physical office is roomy, open, good light, comfortable. There is table tennis, vinyl. Macro perspective: streaming is clearly the future of music consumption. The company's focus on touring artists and events, globally, sets it apart from every other platform in the streaming space.

Cons

Actually aren't many. It's a startup, so roles can get blurred. Even faster product cycles (requiring more Ruby and front-end devs) would be welcome, & management is actively interviewing. I suppose the office could use a few palm trees, the ceiling's high enough!

Pros

The idea itself is awesome. Connecting emerging/touring artists + venues/festivals + fans, using music streaming as the medium. If you are a music fan, especially a live music fan - or even just like a good business/tech challenge, this is a great opportunity to do something meaningful that will impact a lot of people. The company is now under new CEO leadership since late January. Staff is highly motivated and communication/morale is improving. Previous CEO rating is outdated. Primary hiring focus right now is building an in-house dev team, which is well underway - with a VP Engineering, VP Product and a satellite developer office in SF for folks who don't want to regularly commute daily to the home office in Emeryville. Co-workers are one of the best things about the company. Everyone is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Work environment is casual, but not sloppy or unprofessional. Perks like office lunches, massages, ping pong/pool table, snacks, concert tickets are great - with plans for more coordinated culture building on the way. Bottom line: There's a lot of opportunity here and things are looking pretty good right now.

Cons

New CEO is making a concerted effort to address past "cons" - so its too early to say much about this. Slow development speed (and all the inter-departmental ripples that creates) remains an issue, but hiring talented devs should help that a lot.
