Pros

The people are fantastic for what remains of the original family-owned and then employee-owned company, though thinning considerably as the stockholder perspective thins out their ranks.

Cons

Stockholder driven so layoffs are regular. Went from being over-leveraged with contractors, to instead building their own resource company in Bangalor, India. So US folks are being layed off once they train their replacements in Bangalor. Official new releases say they are "rebalancing" their global resources, but there were no global resources until they decided to replace the US employees with India resources. Once they started hiring in India, they locked down the hiring in US and over the past 2 years have been eliminating the US positions as they bring the India resources on-line. Last couple of years has been CEO centric ... everything is about executive bonuses. Sad to see, it was really a fantastic company, but no more.

Pros

Lowe's provides an excellent atmosphere that is fun, safe, and comfortable to work in. I was worried about not knowing where things were when a customer asked, but you can always look to a fellow employee to give you a hand....with anything! If you've never used powered equipment, that will change.

Cons

If you aren't full time, hours will get cut around Summer time. Having a heavy work-load and having to cover 1 or 2 other departments. When you put on the vest, the customer will assume that you know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING in the store while others will expect you to be in 2 places at once. It may seem tedious at times, but no matter how busy you are, you have to make it a habit to stop and ask EVERY customer (with a smile) if they could use your help for anything.
