Pros

Insanely beautiful campus, with a huge lake walking trail. Coffeeshop right in the middle of campus - it has really great coffee, but also the relaxed atmosphere of a cafe to catch up with colleagues, do some work outside the cube, or just take a quick break. I didn't realize until I left how valuable this space was. Incredibly caring management and generally, very genuinely nice people. No barking orders at employees, no unreasonable deadlines, very understanding of personal circumstances and really want what's best for YOU. I felt like my colleagues were family after only a few short weeks. Interesting work, at least in my experience. I was able to really focus on one big project, instead of having to be on top of four or five different smaller ad-hoc analyses. Very casual culture - sure, the dress code only switched to casual in the last year or so, but the atmosphere is very casual too. I always felt relaxed. Pay is nominally lower than in other, bigger cities, but the cost of living in Charlotte/Mooresville is so low that you're really keeping a far bigger chunk.

Cons

There is not a lot of time off, however Lowe's isn't the kind of place you dread going to every day. Location in Mooresville isn't ideal for young energetic employees, but a really great place if you're raising a family. Have heard that other departments have a lot of fear and anxiety due to restructure.

Pros

Some amazing customers and coworkers. Tasks and systems were easy to learn. Sometimes you get lucky and have amazing ASMs and SMs. It's easy to get a good survey when you treat customers like friends, be honest about what you do and don't know, and work to learn what you don't. That goes a long way with customers. I personally truly loved my job and loved spending as much time as I could at work.

Cons

Once you are on someones S*** List they will make it possible to get rid of you. Management only follows policy when it benefits them. Some people get promoted when they have no business working in retail as a leader. The A/C in the store I worked in was always broken during the summer, which made it miserable to work. Some customers are entitled due to they way management will kiss their butts to keep from losing a sale or getting a bad review. Management will make a paper trail to write you up if you mess up or are struggling instead of helping you better yourself. Management does not care about employees' work-life balance. Management does not care if their employees are struggling with personal issues like car troubles, health issues, financial issues, etc. Management will get rid of great employees but keep people who don't pull their weight. Once I hit burnout, instead of helping me, I was punished by my managers. In turn making me hate a job I truly loved.
