Pros
- Nice break room with free coffee. - Free monthly taco or in-n-out truck (if fast food is your thing). - Very nice employee mortgage discount rate (that becomes 5/5 ARM mortgage if/when you leave the company). - Well-built corporate culture based on 7 values that make up CATFISH acronym. - Fun, young crowd if you work in the call center. - Free parking (if you get to work early, otherwise good luck finding a spot). - Excellent vertical communication, very open and friendly CEO.
Cons
- A lot of hypocrisy in the company: they tend to praise leadership, but in reality lower management's role is not to lead, but to squeeze maximum out of the employees. - This organization is very stingy, budgets are very tight, and employee's pay is within 75 percentile of total US market. - Very vertical corporate management strategy. Information travel must be through all layers of management up and then down. - Even though management is trying to create a "cool" Zappos-like atmosphere, there is a lot of resistance in the upper (and mid-) management and only some hand-picked practices are adopted. Others are frowned upon with comments "we are in traditional industry" and "we've always done it this way". - A lot of resistance to change due to being one of the top credit unions in the country. "We are the best, why change?" attitude. - Moving up the corporate ladder takes years and years.
