Pros
It could be fun. It is a relatively easy job, despite the working conditions at times. You could be subjected to extreme heat, long hours, etc. since we are mobile and go wherever we can. If you really are just doing this for fun because you are in high school or college, then it could be experience.
Cons
1. LATE SKETCHY PAYCHECKS Every paycheck I've received working here since June has been late. It's September. You are supposed to get paid every 2 weeks and you sign something upon hiring that tells you that, but it's always been over a week late. So you're going well over 3 weeks without a paycheck. You also don't know when that paycheck is coming either. I asked the owner about it and she says it's every two weeks, but then she'll pay weeks late or make excuses like she's been out of town so give her a moment because she's coming back to a bunch of emails, so bare with her. I am currently waiting on a paycheck that is a day late, with no explanation, but she will still put you on the schedule or ask if you can come in when you hadn't even gotten paid for the last two weeks. I'm sorry, but I declined. I cannot keep giving to a company that is not concerned about paying me on time, but stresses the importance of being on time to an event. The owner has been late to events, so you will be there waiting for her. 2. UNPAID TRAINING Owner won't pay you on time, but will get upset if you do not attend a 4-hour mandatory UNPAID training. That is miles away, so it's gas and time spent for FREE. I had to ask if training was paid or not because my late paycheck was short. So she basically didn't tell us if was paid or not until I asked. 3. YOUR WELL-BEING IS NOT LOOKED AT I was left alone working a shift in the mall from 10:45am-8:15pm. I asked the owner and supervisor if someone could come and help and no one did. People were stealing from the boutique, while I was doing a hairstyle because the boutique is meant to be run by another person while you are busy. I could not take a break that day and had to ask a security guard to come watch the shop, so I can go run to take a sip of water. My knees hurt for a week after and I felt like my legs were going to give out. This job is meant for pocket change purposes only. If you don't mind when your paycheck comes in, but know how to french braid, then this job is for you. If you really just want to have fun and gain experience working because you are in high school or college, and you would do this work for free, like you don't mind feeling like an unpaid intern, then this job is for you. I feel like I put a lot of work in only to not be respected because the owner is living her best life, while I wait for a paycheck.
