Pros

1) The product is genuinely a great product and it's changing the world, I felt very proud to work in the early childhood education sector 2) There are some really wonderful people who work at HiMama 2) The office was located in a really central area, easy to get to and lots of lunch spots around

Cons

1) HiMama is a toxic environment, the entire culture revolves around the sales team and their high performers. If you aren't on the sales team, it's hard to feel as if your successes matter to anyone, regardless of the hours/effort you put in. If you are on the sales team, you're only recognized for the extra hours/time you put in. 2) A lot of the office culture revolves around partying and alcohol, while they did start offering non-alcoholic beverages at company events - the theme of most gatherings was to still get drunk. It can be very alienating and hard to feel like you fit in if you aren't getting drunk at company events. 3) There is no support for junior employees across departments - it's a struggle to succeed if you're junior with not a ton of previous work experience in literally any department. If you come in as a junior employee, you will be made to feel bad about that. 4) Management is out of touch with reality and frankly, do more harm than good. If I had met with the CTO prior to joining HiMama - I would not have accepted a job offer. 5) There is no people operations or HR - as such, there is no way to report problematic behavior. 6) The CEO solicits Glassdoor reviews from new hires or people who have made it to the 3 month mark. I do feel that those reviews are genuine but regardless they are solicited while you're employed.

It’s disappointing that you left HiMama feeling that it was a toxic environment. Given that these reviews can sometimes be referenced by candidates who are interested in joining HiMama, I do feel obliged to provide objective data that your experience does appear to be isolated. We collect feedback from our team on a weekly basis and from that data we have an Employee Net Promoter Score that is currently 40% higher than the benchmark average, beating benchmarks in almost every category. That said, it’s regrettable that your experience deviated from that, and it’s discouraging to hear about it. We have had a People Operations and Human Resources leader and team for several months now, so my hope is that things have changed in your team since you left HiMama. The thing I have always been the most proud of, and continue to be the most proud of, at HiMama is our people and how wonderful they are. I know you’re no longer with us, but I am confident that the challenges you faced have since been rectified given the consistently positive feedback we receive from the team on a regular basis. I hope that you still have some fond memories of your time at HiMama and that you felt there were some areas of growth and learning during your time with us. I sincerely hope that you have found an opportunity that is a great fit for you and where you are really happy. - Ron
