Pros

W2 status, health insurance, don’t have to worry about billing

Cons

Not since I was a 20 year old waitress being sexually harassed have I felt like my employer was this predatory. They flagrantly violated my contract and their legal department gave them cover to do so. I ended up losing a month of my salary. They brag about how much they’ve grown but the ratio of therapists to operations staff is 2:1, with the operation side continuing to grow. This means that the therapists who bring in ALL of the revenue see a low percentage of it in their paycheck because so much has to go to supporting the huge operations side of things. Operations leadership has no understanding, respect or humility for the clinical side. Each Clinical Director now supports 160 therapists so your director will not even know your name in most cases and Operations has no understanding of how emblematic that is of them not caring about clinical staff. One of my colleagues was privy to a “hot mic” moment from an Operations leader in which he shared open disdain for clinical leadership. I can’t say enough bad things about this company.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
