Pros
The pay is great. The work is not hard. The scenery is beautiful. You go cool places and do cool things. This used to be a great place to work, with good managers that cared. But then....covid and cancer and now.....
Cons
There's no direction. There's so much in fighting from base chiefs and others trying to get power. Life someone else said new CEO is 'making changes to improve moral' but the real is that she has no idea what she's doing. She's just trying to make everyone like her and it's all expensive and won't last. She got rid of most of the team that held it together through covid and replaced them with yes people with no good plan. The new shifts are way too long and you can count on everyone else to call down so if you do your job and try to serve, you just get burned bc you're the only crew left. But we're 'filling more shifts with less people' now, except that mostly they call down to earn money sleeping so they can be rested when their shift is over, so really there's no one available anyway. The board has never supported this place. Running off the people that knew what they’re doing was a terrible decision, no one respects anyone in leadership anymore, from base chiefs up to the CEO. I've been here five years, and I'm gone as soon as I find a new job in the lower 48. Alaska is cool but this just isn’t worth it. Want to fly? Great, it's awesome -- but find somewhere else!!
