Pros
Many of my co-workers in the field were some of the nicest and fun people I know. Working a shift with a good partner was like hanging out with a good friend for 12+ hours. I still keep in touch with some of them.
Cons
LifeLine has a lot of difficulty balancing its priorities. The crews often feel neglected by management with regards to issues not being addressed in a timely manner, being rushed to calls that the crews are already late for when assigned and then forced to manage the unhappy staff, and non-competitive wages (a recent pay raise was coupled with a reduction in hours). Even when the base supervisors are putting in the effort to keep the bases stocked and clean, and keep the crews happy, the management team often failed to provide the necessary support for them to do their jobs, often leading to a lot of frustration. While the ambulance business is highly saturated in the Boston area, and it is clear that these companies want to make a profit, LifeLine made this mentality very prominent at the sacrifice of keeping employees satisfied. There was a deep-seated mentality that you were easily replaceable, and it made a lot of people feel very resentful towards the company.
