Pros
In the past 5 years, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sales management culture with the PC and server divisions, on the whole, has transitioned away from being staffed with "me-first", ladder-climbing, personal-KPI-only decision-making... to a culture of people-first management. There will of course be the nay-sayers who disagree, but I expect they are the type who mistakes the fact that this is still a job, not a summer camp, and expectations and accountability are required for a successful, for-profit business.
Cons
4th line management is hit or miss. Some are very solid, respect their employees time, and more importantly, their employee's work and deliverables. Others are less accountable, they don't read their e-mails, interrupt working-meetings multiple times a day to get those same details explained to them, and delegate the simplest of tasks (is this person online? call them, ask this question, report back to me). Outside of that, so long as you're within the IC, 1st, 2nd or 3rd structure, this does not seem to be the case anymore, the bad apples weeded out over last 5 years.
