Pros

I was able to do something that I truly loved that I felt had value and meaning. I truly miss the people I worked with on a daily basis. I met and cultivated some great, long lasting friendships while working at Lake Pointe.

Cons

Leadership has no accountability- at least in the department I was in. Pay was low- even for a ministry. I ended up leaving for many reasons but a big one was they wanted me to work more hours and take on more responsibility without proper compensation. Even though my boss was far removed and kind of clueless about the day to day processes of my position, he still tried to micro-manage everything I did. Most processes were convoluted and they refused to change them to make them more efficient. A lot of my job was the equivalent of moving a pile of sand with tweezers- There was always a better way to get the job done, but I was bound to the inefficient way because of the tools I was given or the resistance to change. Leadership was often unkind in the way they handled internal issues. I felt my boss was unprofessional in the way he talked about others on staff to me. I couldn't go to anyone with issues because I knew that a confidential conversation wouldn't remain confidential. Unfortunately, I found that out the hard way. Human resources was basically useless in the same way. The human resources director is good friends with most of the leadership on staff so there was no going to human resources about any issues. The HR department was not an advocate for the employee but for the higher ranking staff. Women were not respected in the department that I was in. I can say this because of the many comments my boss made to me about the other ladies working in the office. There was an obvious double standard for the male and female employees. Example- male employees could be late all the time without consequence. If female employees were 5 minutes late they would be reprimanded. There is a constant revolving door amongst the entry level employees. Within my first year, 7 employees from my department either left the department or left the church for different jobs.

Pros

Working at Lakepointe Church has been such a blessing. The environment is incredibly positive, encouraging, and Christ-centered. Every day, I feel supported by leadership and my team. There's a strong focus on serving with excellence while keeping God at the center of everything we do. I genuinely leave work feeling uplifted and fulfilled—it's rare to find a workplace where your purpose and passion align so well. Grateful to be part of a place that values people, faith, and community so highly!

Cons

As with many roles in ministry, it’s important to have strong boundaries to maintain a healthy work-life balance. It can be easy to overextend yourself if you're not intentional with your time. While the church encourages balance, the nature of ministry work can sometimes lead to long or irregular hours—especially during busy seasons.
