Upper management has created a culture that kills employee moral. Many departments have a mole to report on their department to report to upper management. Management belittles employees in front of peers. Perhaps 1% of people hired move forward in their careers - most are lateral moves. Questioning procedures and/or management will make you a target. PTO is non-existent until you have worked there for 10+ years and there are only 6 paid holidays. Do no expect to be able to leave early Christmas Eve or NYE. Antiquated cubicle life; the desks outside of the President & CEO's office have the wood laminate peeling off with water damage throughout the building. The positive employee reviews had to be solicited from current employees to counter the negative reviews. But most of all is the integrity of the company - honest, transparent, and trustworthy people and entities don't have to work that hard to convince others that they are honest, transparent and trustworthy.
