Pros
Good pay striaght out of college to help pay for everything but at the end of the year, during the tax season, I have to pay over $5,500 in tax to the state.
Cons
So many hours and so much effort contributed into the work and too little recognitions received. The managements tend to listen more to the supervisors who are able to twist stories rather than the employees. I was hired to work 40 hours a week and guaranteed after 2 years with Kiewit, they would help pay for my master's program, as well as doing engineering work. But it was all a LIE. After working for Kiewit, I have worked over 60 hours a week (Once they were unhappy with me leaving at 11pm during closing. What's wrong with me leaving at 11pm? They don't pay for overtime and I have finished all of my work. I'm not going to sit there and stare) and the company does not pay for your master's program. It only pay for your PE related program. If you're interested in engineering work, don't go for Kiewit because I realized after working here, asides from doing estimating, I also did a lot of teller communication and some presentation. It's not a very well rounded company because there's too much emphasis on beers and sports on the personal level. And if you're not into a specify sport team, you'll never be one of the niches in the company.
