Pros
There is a lot of passion there. Everyone works hard and is very enthusiastic about the product.
The benefits were great. Medical insurance was paid for by the company and we were given a generous amount of paid vacation time.
If you work hard, there was definitely opportunity to move up and grow within the company.
Cons
If you're not an engineer, director, or other higher-up, (I wasn't) you're not treated with as much respect. I felt overlooked and unappreciated working there. My time and opinions didn't seem to ever matter.
Money was always an issue, (understandably so, as it IS a startup) but even after working there a year and getting a job promotion, I never got a raise. Then I found out the person who came to replace my job was paid much, much more than I was. I also couldn't understand how it was okay to spend hundreds of dollars for beer and fancy coffee for the employees every week, but they couldn't make the office a cleaner, more updated place to work. The office was disgusting, old, and moldy. The employees were slobs and didn't clean up after themselves. It was constantly like a circus in there. Filthy and chaotic. The cleaning (windowsills, floors, etc.) had to be done by the employees themselves, and few of them stepped up to the plate to contribute.
