Pros
Considered one of the best in Japan
Cons
Racist environment. Poor care for international students, an orphan 1.5 hours a week program for teaching japanese (in contrast to over 7 courses in the University of Tokyo with various time schedules: full time, part-time, occasional and volunteer courses). Badly equipped laboratories, no maintenance and no cleaning (unless the students do it, which is unlikely). No direct financial assistance from the university, you have to count on private organisations (which require a high level of Japanese and mostly directed to Asian students only) or MEXT (if you get MEXT, you are disqualified for any research grants from the university and most private organisations in Japan)! Very expensive tuition (twice that of Publicly funded Universities, which tend to be better ranked and offer better research environments). The university is blacklisted in terms of hiring foreigners for teaching or even assisting positions. Professors have poor teaching abilities using english language, the best professors are joining big public universities anyway. No programs for assistance or collaboration in research, only solo work and no joint programs with foreign universities (except of a couple cases but they are only for exchange activities, NO Research collaboration!!!), etc.
