Pros

Great PTO, sick leave, some incredible and inspiring staff working really hard to help youth. Great work/life balance for parents.

Cons

-Toxic workplace: lack of leadership -No strategic direction -Staff bullied and harassed by other staff, complain to leadership and HR, nothing is done. Frequently people harassed are women and women of color being harassed by a male. Staff in the sites (not in the SF/headquarters office) are most vulnerable. - No actual program. There is no curriculum. There are no outcomes. There is no accountability. Success is a testament to the hard work of direction service staff- nothing to do with the program or organization. - Majority of youth enrolled do not attend one workshop- Juma barely interacts with youth “in the program” - No requirements for program graduation or end date to program - Dysfunction of headquarter office: lack of direction, horrible communication with sites- each site creates their own curriculum and program to make up for lack of direction from national site. - Exec manipulation of success metrics, hides info from key stakeholders. Lack of oversight from board. - CEO lacks vision, is unable to inspire and motivate staff. Unwilling to make decisions. Communication challenges with many staff. Blames previous CEO and outgoing staff for everything. - CFO/COO also unwilling/unable to make decisions. Allowed a team member reporting to him to scream at and verbally abuse use other staff, in front of the entire office, for over a year. Created a horrible office environment. Most common response to a question is “I don’t know.”

Pros

Get to work with incredible empathetic people Getting to work with youth reminds each front office employee the purpose of the job Great benefits and vacation time

Cons

Can't think of anything particular. One thing to keep in mind for future and even current employees, the salaries in non profits may not be high however there are great benefits and vacation time off and we learn a lot and wear many hats that shape us. That becomes a pro.
