Extremely low pay, office politics, no empathy - Mental Health Therapist Jackson House Employee Review

Pros

A chance to help others who might need it.

Cons

I was hired as a supervisor and I got paid so little that it wasn’t a livable wage. My current job pays more than double what Jackson House paid me. I have a masters and a license to practice therapy and Jackson House paid me just over poverty levels. My coworkers were jealous that an outside hire (me) got the supervisor role but, legally, they couldn’t have my job because none of them were licensed. Instead they repeatedly lied about me until I quit. When I quit I told my boss that my mental health was suffering as a result of the job and in response she said, “That’s no excuse.” which absolutely shocked me because we treated mental illnesses along with addiction.

Pros

Jackson House in Oregon City is truly a gem in the field of mental health care. As someone who has referred multiple clients to this facility, I have consistently seen successful outcomes and meaningful progress in their treatment journeys. The compassionate, individualized care provided here is nothing short of exceptional. What sets Jackson House apart is its deep commitment to both client and staff well-being. They foster an environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported making a genuine impact on mental health recovery. Their trauma-informed approach, skilled staff, and welcoming atmosphere create a safe space for healing and personal growth. Not only is Jackson House a top-tier choice for treatment, but it’s also a fantastic place to work. The leadership team truly values their staff and creates a supportive culture rooted in respect, empathy, and collaboration. When caregivers feel empowered and respected, it directly translates into better care for clients and that’s exactly what you see at Jackson House. This is a place where lives are changed, hope is restored, and people are given the tools they need to thrive. I highly recommend Jackson House to anyone seeking quality respite care or considering a meaningful career in mental health.
