Cons

Free food and a dog-friendly environment are NOT enough to be the saving grace for any company. PLEASE READ UP PEOPLE AND BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS before accepting a job offer from Influenster. At Influenster, I experienced one of the most toxic work environments I had the misfortune to encounter and boy howdy have I been in some bad places. As pointed out in many other reviews, the co-founders don't know what they're doing and I am surprised the company is still in business. The female co-founder spouts a bunch of nonsense on how she is a #girlboss doing her thing, but fails to mention at her PR events that if you have the bad luck of working with her, you are nothing but a peon who is there to satisfy her every demand without question. Questioning her is not even a possibility because you will immediately get shut down. The male co-founder is haughty as well, and is probably using his trust fund money to keep the place afloat. I could never figure out what he did other than throw around flimsy ideas and storm out of meetings because somebody disagreed with him. Also, pro-tip that the founders are also romantic partners so you can deduce what you will from that. Bullying, cliques, and gossip run rampant and are often fueled by co-founders, leaders, and possibly your own manager who should ideally have your back in any other work environment. The comments about the Slack shaming are very much true, and if you want to be harassed and bullied in the General channel (by the co-founder no less) for something so miniscule as coming in 5 minutes late, by all means, take the job. Organizationally speaking, the structure is incredibly flat. You are either loved by management because you work in sales or you are an old-timer (seniority does not always save you from bullying), or you are nobody and you can get cut the minute they change course which is OFTEN. Your manager will be chomping at the bit to throw you under the bus to save their own skin. The co-founders are also not transparent whatsoever about how the company makes money (big “IF”), so that’s scammy and scary as well. If you do not care for working in a chaotic, unstable environment where you dread going into work everyday I urge you to stay away.

Pros

Influenster is a place where you can gain valuable experience and move up the ladder quickly if you put in the effort. The company is growing rapidly in terms of revenue and membership which makes it a pretty exciting time to be here. Management makes it a priority to come up with new products for both its member base and clients, so there are new launches happening all the time meaning you won’t be bored. Also if you have a fresh idea for a new feature or a recommendation on how to make a process run more smoothly, you are listened to and many times see your suggestion come to life. Overall the team has respect for one another and many of us have made lifelong friendships working here. There are also perks like lunches, rooftop happy hours, product giveaways and cute dogs joining all the meetings.

Cons

Influenster has a lot of things they want to accomplish so priorities can change from time to time, which may bother those who are used to more of a strict structure. I also agree there have been growing pains in scaling but I guess that happens when you’re evolving from small startup to a much larger organization.
