Pros
Hurricane Labs once set the bar for managed splunk and soc services. As such, there's still alot to learn here, you can get exposure to every conceivable splunk environment there is and truly become a splunk expert. The team members I worked with here were exceptional. Was able to learn from and teach very talented individuals. If the caliber of employee is maintained, you can be assured of the folks who work along side you are doing the work. Towards the end of my tenure here, the hours were very reasonable. You were expected to work your assigned hours, and that's it. There was the once every blue moon fire drill where you had to pitch in at an odd hour, but that was a very rare occurrence. Great full remote work policy. Effective team communication and collaboration.
Cons
In late 2021 Hurricane Labs was acquired by a holding group. The original owners departed. In the years that followed after the acquisition, standard holding group operating policies have depredated the value offered to employees. Insurance offerings and contributions have been reduced. Incentives and efforts are no longer adequate to retain exceptional talent. To my knowledge at the time of this writing, Hurricane Labs compensates about 30% below the market average, seemingly across the board. Once you become proficient in your role here, you can reliably expect other organizations to pay you at least 30% more.
