Pros
- Talented employees - Generally kind, compassionate, easy going management - Driven leadership They sell their sites based on great work from their designers and they deliver. The folks in charge tend to get clients on their good sides by agreeing to quite literally whatever they demand. It's sort of a "say yes now, figure it out later" kind of an approach, and clients eat it up no matter how late and sloppy their sites end up. This keeps the work flowing in, and ultimately once a site is "done" it looks great, modern and professional--a client couldn't ask for much more, and despite the PTSD, employees can feel rewarded and add to their portfolio!
Cons
- Lack of transparency - Low pay - High-cost, low-value benefits - I got less time off here than at a prior blue collar hourly position - Generally a sloppy, stumble-our-way-to-the-finish-line project after project kind of work - Not great response to Covid - Raise caps (not like it matters) - It's a small company, so onboarding was more of a, "hey'd ya figure it out yet?" for me All employees were made to work unpaid overtime for a period during peak Covid. Hey, whatever it takes to keep the ship afloat, right? However, that period was extended without warning. Huemor then launched more websites than they've ever launched thanks to everyone putting in extra effort--at no cost to leadership. No bonuses, no extended time off, nothing beyond a light thank you email was gifted in response. The leaders of this company work so closely with employees that it feels weird when they take long vacations/absences while everyone else is counting to the minute hoping they have time off for appointments and holidays (that is, the brief period during the holidays that they are not required to work).
