Pros

Great Pay, Opportunities to earn extra money, district made lessons, usually protected PLC (Though this changes between departments.) I am fortunate to have an AP that does not micromanage unless he is forced to. He trusts us to do our job and we do it. Kids are growing on me. They have their hang ups but their hearts are good.

Cons

APs do not actually coach teachers. They are more concerned about timers and icons being on slides rather then model effective teaching practices. There is a definite fear culture at my school. We are ALWAYS getting threatened with being written up or having some disciplinary action taken against us. I feel like I am desensitized to it now.

Pros

At an EAS school, there is more autonomy. It is not so microamnaged. Free Pre-k for your kids. Available bonus pay through PFP model.

Cons

Not much coaching happening at EAS schools (for a first year teacher that may be difficult). Not all elementary schools have Pre-k so your kid may not attend the school you work at. I am finding out my new salary on THE DAY I RETURN TO WORK. Crazy.
