I asked for a higher hourly pay and got it, but the head of store who approved it asked me to keep it secret and I discovered I was being paid more than the people training me who had worked there for years. Really proved that how they talk about loyalty and moving up is just talk. When they asked me to train for new roles, I asked if I'd be compensated for the additional value and flexibility that provided the company--NOPE. For all they spin about being a great employer, when it comes to fair and equitable compensation, you find out it's all talk, secrecy, and butt-covering.
