Cons... where do I start!? - Shift leaders are NOT nice. Favoritism is rampant, and if you're not kissing a ton of higher-up butt, I guarantee you they're going to put in about zero effort treating you like a human being. It's one thing to have a job that requires you to tell others what to do, it's another to abuse that power. They're so rude, passive-aggressive, and patronizing. If they don't like you, they'll isolate you on a register at the furthest end of the department while everyone else is at the other end. If they don't like you, they'll make it known, and make your job as hard as possible. I had a shift leader scold me for not carding a customer for their alcohol, when I was bagging on the register. It is not the bagger's responsibility to card, it is the cashier's! Grrr! - Customer service is a priority, regardless of how abusive customers may be. I am a female associate and get a lot of unwanted advances from male customers. This doesn't stop at hitting on me while I'm on register, this has sometimes escalated to the same customer coming to my register every day to ask if I'm interested yet, disgusting ogling, sexual commentary. I am not allowed to stick up for myself because "customer service is important." I have having to smile and laugh because my job FORCES me to, and I will lose my job if I protect myself. I have one customer who is legitimately stalking me, and management will only do the minimum, which is telling him he is not allowed to come to my register or talk to me. Well, that's great, but he still comes into the store every day I'm working and takes his time, stopping to stare at me, sitting outside of the store for several hours in case they send me out to get carts. I do not feel comfortable or safe working here at all. - They advertise full time positions on the application, but they don't give out full time hours. They barely even give you part time. Again, if they don't like you, you don't get a whole lot of hours. -Gossip, back stabbing, overall immaturity from co-workers. There is a girl in my department who does not like me, and I suspect she is spreading rumors because when I started out everything was fine, and now nobody in my department likes me anymore. I get dirty looks and I get ignored. I don't even know what I did!! Overall, this is probably the worst job I have ever had. I always feel pushed to the end of my rope by the time I clock out, and I cannot wait to leave this absolute hell hole.
