We were sorry to hear that you feel that there is no opportunity for progression at Hammerson. Ensuring all colleagues have the opportunity for career development is important to us as we want to be able to retain and attract the best people in the sector. We appreciate that in some roles this may be limited and that is why we routinely offer the opportunity to move across teams, and many colleagues have successfully made the jump for example from surveying to investor relations to provide a wider skills base.
We were also disappointed to hear that you feel that opportunity only extends to senior management, as our career development programmes are open to all and we actively encourage progression within the business, with a growing number of senior management having started their careers with us in junior roles. We clearly have more to do in this area so we are working hard to make sure everyone who works here has the opportunity to fulfill their potential and there will be more coming soon this year.
In May 2019, we launched Talent Central our personal development and training hub, which is open to all colleagues. Hopefully this has gone some way to addressing your concerns regarding training.
We work really hard to ensure that there are not high levels of bureaucracy at Hammerson and that senior management are accessible through our hot desking policy and with the executive team regularly having lunch with colleagues in the office restaurant. This is not a piece of feedback we receive regularly so I am really sorry that this has been your experience.
