Pros
Having worked in GA Ireland, I really enjoyed the work and the people. I felt there was some great people between the Hong Kong HQ’s and Ireland team. I thought the projects were exciting to work on & I learnt new things from the Hong Kong team on Regulatory Affairs (RA) etc that I might not of gained elsewhere. I was sorry that in the year 2022 the projects never took off for manufacturing on the endoscopic valve set where automation was planned in the Co. Westmeath site for that year. I do wish the company every success in the future on what they decide for the move forward!!!
Cons
The company plans could have been made more transparent from the beginning and if it had been done, it would have saved GA themselves on salaries. This could have been done if the focus was on what was actually intended, that is, if ISO certification or other. It’s a pity the automation did not kick off for the facility as intended as a lot of work was put in by vendors and would have been great for the small town of Mullingar - just as it would have been for GA themselves. Yes, we were given very short notice but on terms that were reasonable as any private company would do however I do feel if the company knew the cuts were coming then more time could have been given.
