Pros

Students are loving and excited to learn. It is a wonderful feeling to know that you are making a difference in a child's life. Very rewarding when you reach a student and help them grow both academically and socially. Good health benefits. If you can make it 30 years, great pension. Hard working colleagues and passionate work environment. Great to have summers and holidays off.

Cons

Pay is solely dependent upon how many years you've been working for Fulton County Schools and your level of education. There is little to no room for advancement, particularly if you don't want to go the administrative route. Work 10-12 hours, stressful, high paced work environment. High expectations regardless of student background, language level and socioeconomic status. Evaluation system is subjective and leads to a high stress level and low morale. Teachers spend more time assessing, data analysis, and proving that they're teaching the children then actually teaching students.

Pros

You get a wide variety of schools to work with.

Cons

South Fulton and Alpharetta are really far away from the city center, and there can be a lot of favoritism in those areas. Paraprofessional pay is very low, and that can sometimes be the only thing that is available on Aesop. You may barely have a break to take your lunch - 30 mins or so.
