Pros
- Very hard-working and compassionate staff - Some of the programs and projects are very impactful in the community - Decent pay for a non-profit
Cons
- Everything else….. - Leadership creates a very unhealthy and unproductive culture. Leadership frequently gaslights and lies to employees to cover for themselves. Management makes it clear time and time again that they think all employees are replaceable. - The turnover at Forterra is shocking and makes it difficult to create meaningful working relationships or work-flows within and between departments. Staff are often expected to absorb responsibilities after employees leave and their positions are not replaced with no additional compensation. - Management union-busted before the Forterra union was in place (they were found guilty by the National Labor Relations Board for a retaliatory firing in August 2021) and now that it’s in place they seem to be purposely not working well with the union. - Lack of DEI and anti-racism training is concerning, especially at an org. that claims to be “serving BIPOC community”
