One thing Filevine does really well is getting you to drink their Kool-Aid. Wear the swag, post about the new building (that most won't even get to work in) and make you feel welcome. Then, you fall in line. 1 star review followed by 2-3 5 star reviews with no cons? Sounds like the Kool-Aid has been flowing again.
Let's start with the recruiting process, you're sold on the idea that Filevine is the HOTTEST SaaS company in UT. "The Rocket Ship" "This place is going to blow up!" "You'll come in as a BDR, crush it for 2-3 month and move up to an AE" You may be reading this knowing you heard those words just hours ago. They will ask you to be apart of something more so they don’t have to pay you what other SaaS companies do for similar positions. Filevine is growing, but they aren't a leader in the space. Top 10 but not top 5. You have seen or heard of the office shutting down between Christmas and New Years. This is only if you are not in sales or support.. of course. Don't be fooled.
Leadership. Filevine is still a very small company and the hierarchy wants control of everything. You will be told your job is not hard, that "the kids at Ringbird (an answering service) can do your job" Managers are berated and told their employees don't respect them. I have never seen such a toxic atmosphere from upper management. Ryan cannot stand WFH, I caught COVID twice from people in the office. This may not be a big deal to you but just know, they want you in your seat where they can watch you.
Vision. The product has some serious limits. They are tied to personal injury law firms because they can’t figure out time tracking and billing. They use sales force instead of their own product because it can’t translate into basic CRM functions. How can the product be used in other industries when you can’t figure out how to use it as your own CRM? Despite being “the fastest growing tech company in UT” Filevine is very small and lacks vision. If you want to really know their vision of the company do a side by side of their website and Podiums. It’s a copy and a rip off of a much larger and much more successful company. With a award winning marketing you should be able to produce something better than a copy of another company, right?
The thing I disagree with the other real review posts are, Filevine will not jump start your career in SaaS because no one knows who they are. It is such a limited product in a limited and even smaller industry that it doesn’t translate into other areas. Utah is exploding with successful companies, you’re better off going elsewhere.
