Pros
-You learn everything and deal with many different types of situations. Great if you want to gain knowledge of hospitality and the good and bad that comes with it. -Ability to build your resume and job skills. After working here, you will be ahead of the curve when dealing with STAR Reporting, budgeting, department management and recruiting. Extended Stay expects their GMs to wear many hats, and you will wear many hats. -Flexibility of hours if you are a General Manager -Ability to recruit and build your own staff.
Cons
-Many properties operate without strong in-house management support. Absence of an AGM or Team Lead is a reality at most properties. Be ready to be on call at all times. -Staffing needs to be less of a cookie cutter approach and more about how much revenue against the budget the hotel makes. Many hotels are understaffed with more occupancy and revenue and many hotels are overstaffed with lack of occupancy and revenue.
