Cons
Disclaimer: I worked for Eternitech under a different agency which they (Eternitech) hired for work they need outsourced, like content writing (my job). To begin with, there was no orientation coming from anyone in Eternitech. I didn't really know what the company was all about, their mission, vision, everything until days later and some mistakes were already made. Also, I only knew the CEO and that was it. I didn't know notable employees I was supposed to be working with until later when I had already made some mistakes. But despite knowing who the CEO was and having his Skype contact, he proved to be quite difficult to talk to because he was almost never there anyway. And when he was there, he'd just comment on my mistakes. Nothing was ever right for him. And despite being this seeming Elon Musk-like "visionary," he expected everyone around him to do the research on the task themselves if they don't know something about it. I was a victim of this. Worse, he expected me to fully understand what the company is all about already even if I was still just days in the company and despite not having conducted any orientation whatsoever with me on day one. His unreasonable expectations with me proved problematic when he made me prioritize this task called a "one-pager." Then if you add the fact that he'd just comment on my mistakes? It led to the point that made me decide to quit. So what exactly led to me quitting? See, there are cultural differences between CEO and myself. Where I live, we do not use the term "one-pager" and companies here do not even create them at all. Never. And since he expected me to do the research on that task myself, it took me an unreasonable amount of time to understand what on earth he really meant by marketing "one-pager." I really thought it was an infographic he wanted the whole time, so I made an outline for an infographic of the company based on a two-hour interview I had with him (which is supposed to be the exact reason why you have a company orientation) which happened because he called me out for my mistakes and to make me learn, and I quote "once and for all what Eternitech is about and what it really stands for." This pissed him off, but I took his anger as feedback for my work. But for some reason he did not take this well, even going so far as to accuse me of giving him work I know is wrong. I snapped at this point. I struggled to send him a voice message as I was already growling in rage at what he just said. I could never do such a thing to anyone, not even my own mother! I quit the following day after that. I could not anymore stand the idea of waking up with the idea that I had done something wrong again to the CEO. But if you thought my trouble with this guy ended there, oh it didn't. When it was time to give the salary, I got a call from someone in the agency they outsource some tasks to that he refuses to give me my salary until he hires a writer who will replace me. I was lucky the agency went out of their way to give me what I was owed or else, it would have been hard for me to move on. To anyone who's reached this point of my rambling, let me tell you this. There are months-old tasks in the company that will probably never be done because of a lack of focus by the CEO and department heads. That "one-pager" is probably gonna be one of them now. I lasted only 9 days with Eternitech but it felt like having worked years already. Whew. Glad to be out now.
