Pros
EFE is filled with wonderful people who believe in the work they do and are happy to help and share their knowledge. The 37.5 hour work week for non-exempt staff is nice, and 100% of health insurance premiums are covered for staff (50% for dependents). Some managers can be wonderful, and leadership on the civil rights team is great.
Cons
Pay is very low - attorneys start below $50k for an exempt position, and support staff are in the upper $30k range. Complete lack of pay transparency, and the CEO is paid substantially more than the rest of staff. Limited resources to address the trauma of the work (direct service work can be draining), even though there have been some attempts to remedy this. DEI efforts are being made, but there's a long way to go, and management doesn't quite understand the issues as well as they should.
