A dying firm in a consolidating industry - Vice President Epoch Employee Review

Pros

It's a small firm, so you'll have access to senior people and portfolio managers. It's owned by TD Bank, so probably not going to completely go under but will morph/be absorbed into the larger organization over time.

Cons

The business is incredibly poorly run. Politics is everything and only those who are favored by the most senior management will rise and be paid well (typically people who have been there since before the TD acquisition). The investment strategies are all severely lagging their benchmarks for the most part, meaning it's only a matter of time before assets leave. Assets dropped by 50% during my time there. Sr. Management views the business as a terminating annuity, and are just riding it until they are inevitably terminated and collecting fees all the way down. They do not respect or value young people (anyone under 45) and are not shy about making sure everyone knows this. You will be underpaid unless you are older and have been there a long time. There is no upside to working here.
