Pros

The people and culture of supporting and trusting each other. From top-level down, trust and openness across the org is encouraged. The structure is fairly flat, with lots of access to senior management. I have never worked in an environment before Emerge where it is actually fun to come to work. There is plenty of work to do, and enough people to do it. Ownership of projects is encouraged all the way down to the lowest level employee. It's not just talk when they say: anyone can make a difference. Pay is tied to performance, and everyone shares in a bonus structure which is tied to net profit. Higher than average industry benefits.

Cons

Sometimes there are tight deadlines, and longer office hours are necessary.

Pros

I was fortunate to land with Emerge Interactive when I was taken on as a Junior Software Engineer. I learned an amazing amount from the team leads, especially the director of technology. The atmosphere of mutual respect, honesty, and learning is a great one to grow in. Likewise, there is a lot of opportunity to take on challenging work with technologies of interest. Coworkers and management are really great to work with. I always felt well supported by my supervisors, and team members. People there take their jobs seriously but are very down to earth and approachable. The company works hard to maintain an open, positive, and fun work environment. Lots of emphasis placed on company values. There is a very good work life balance and expectations of employees are very reasonable. There are some times, like at any agency, where there are longer hours with higher volumes of work, but overall these times are manageable. Flexible work hours with two WFH days. Trust placed in employees to do the right thing and get the work done. The office is very nice and in a great location in Downtown PDX.

Cons

The typical cons of working for an agency. Managing the balance of multiple projects and timelines can be challenging.
