Pros

They promote from within and hire a lot of women. They have a lot of professional development opportunities and talk about SEL and ways to take care of yourself and not get burned out. They have excellent lessons that are provided.

Cons

The portal is glitchy, many times things that you need are missing (PDFs or articles or books), pay is low and you are an independent contractor which means pay is technically even lower since you have to pay your own taxes. Additionally, the classroom coaches don’t really help much with controlling students, many of them don’t know how to troubleshoot when there are audio issues, students are often on one class camera and are hard to see and hear since they are also typically on one class mic. It often feels like you don’t have the tools to do your job correctly. You’ll be evaluated often, but it doesn’t seem like this is also true for the classroom coach and you need their collaboration to make things run smoothly for students.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience teaching at Elevate. We care deeply about the experience of not only our students, but our teachers and employees. Our tech team is working to improve tech issues that we may see throughout our portal. Our classroom coaches are trained on how to maintain class standards and navigate class issues that may arise. We always encourage our teachers and classroom coaches to contact their academic coach should assistance be needed. We appreciate your advice and suggestions regarding the sound in classroom and will take this back to our leadership team.
