Pros

-Incredibly supportive team that respects one another. When issues arise, the focus is on how to fix them rather than any finger-pointing or diffusion of responsibilities. -Management (both middle and high level) takes feedback seriously and takes initiative to improve. One of the major downsides at this company is work/life balance, and one of the small improvements made was for the team to block off our calendar on Friday afternoons to focus. -Flexible schedule including remote work. Our working hours often are outside the typical 9-5 since we work with employees/suppliers all over the world. The flexibility is there if we need some time in the afternoon off, or start late/leave early. -Beautiful campus that is still expanding. Cafeteria has great food and coffee (Portola, Common Room, Starbucks) at subsidized prices. -Competitive pay and benefits (401k, ESPP, 3 weeks vacation, 2 weeks sick time)

Cons

-Long work hours. There simply aren't enough employees to handle all of the work. In general, everyone just understands we are all busy but it is common for emails/meetings/calls to go unanswered. -Lots of tribal knowledge, especially in documentation. There are efforts to improve this, but documentation isn't standardized between each region/team, and that results in a lot of confusion and misunderstandings. -A large workforce means that teams often work in silos and each team may be dedicated to various responsibilities. It can take a while to get something done in between finding the right people, scheduling, and executing projects. -Career growth opportunities can be hard to come by. Depending on the team, there may not be any openings to move up, and the requirements for doing so can be subjective. A high-visibility project can have far more weight than the typical sustaining work being performed, even if the sustaining work takes far more time and effort.
