Pros

Oh, I hate to be writing this, I really do. I’m not the kind of person who enjoys tearing a place down, and I’d love nothing more than to sit here and say how brilliant this company is. But honestly? I just can’t. It wouldn’t be fair to anyone thinking about working here. And I’m sorry to say it, but people deserve to know the truth.

Cons

The leadership is, well… a total disaster. I don’t say that lightly. There’s a mix of incompetence, bad behaviour, and a culture so toxic it’s no wonder morale is in the gutter. It’s hard to trust management when they don’t support their staff, don’t value them, and seem to care more about their own image than the wellbeing of the people keeping this place running. It’s heartbreaking, really. Now, I don’t like to single people out, but the CEO is a massive part of the problem. And I wish I could say otherwise, I really do. But the way he behaves is just shocking—offensive language, even slurs about disabled people, and in front of customers and investors, no less. I mean, what can you even say to that? On top of that, he outright lies to the board and makes promises he has no intention of keeping. He’s told people they’d get funding for professional development, only to turn them down when they ask. He’s promised bonuses, then just… not given them. It’s one thing after another, and after a while, you realise his word means nothin'. And that’s just such a horrible feeling, to know you’re working hard for someone who doesn’t mean what he says. The atmosphere here is awful. Everyone’s on edge, constantly worried about losing their job, and there’s no reassurance from management. It’s like they don’t even realise how anxious people are, or worse, they just don’t care. No one feels safe enough to speak up, and that’s no way to work—it’s exhausting. And I wish I could say it stops there, but honestly, the mew CRO is just as bad. The way he talks to women is… well, it’s unacceptable. Snide comments, little digs, constantly undermining people, it’s like something out of another era. And then there’s his obsession with politics, pushing pro-Trump stuff in company channels, bragging about his gun collection… I mean, it’s a workplace, not his personal clubhouse. It makes for a really uncomfortable environment, especially for those who don’t share his views. Then there’s the CFO, who also can’t seem to leave politics out of the office. And his attitude towards women? Let’s just say it’s not exactly welcoming. There’s this undercurrent of disrespect that you can’t quite put your finger on, but you feel it. And honestly, it just makes the whole place even more miserable. And the one woman in leadership? You’d hope she’d be the one to stand up for people, wouldn’t you? But instead, she’s too busy keeping in with the CEO and the rest of them, looking out for herself instead of the people who really need her support. And I do get it, I really do. When you’re surrounded by this kind of leadership, you probably feel like you’ve got to do whatever it takes to survive. But it’s still hard to watch.

Pros

Everyone that works here is driven to find a solution - It's a great mentality for a growing startup. As an employee, you have the ability to have an impact and influence across the org. The technology is really ahead of the game - The industry as a whole is rather antiquated and Edge has created what feels like a very simple solution for a very complex problem. 2021 seems well poised to be a banner year -New partnerships should accelerate pipeline generation and a massive amount of resources has been put behind content creation and activation.

Cons

The normal growing pains of a tech startup. The platform has moved from a MVP to a scalable system so new feature dev took a back seat in 2020. That all seems to be behind us now.

Pros

Worryingly few. The people outside of the C-suite are the real champions of the business

Cons

The Product - Wonderfully positioned 5 years ago, but due to poor decision making from the CEO, doomed to fail. - Backend code and infrastructure is an absolute mess. Technical debt from 10 years ago still not resolved, meaning that any potential feature requests to improve the product, are impossible to implement. Unfortunately the CEO has not set up the engineering team to succeed. - Directive from CEO is to sell the product 'as is' and promise feature requests only after customer signs the contract, with no intention of implementing. CEO Gideon Carroll - Rampant demonstrations of deceptive sales practices and misrepresentation of ability to deliver on implementation promises. - Mis-selling product capability, brand associations, and PoS agreements to customer and investors - Falsely declaring revenue for renewals that are confirmed lost, in order to inflate numbers - Misrepresenting strength of pipeline, current invoicing contracts, and total addressable market to the Board and investors - Misleading shareholders as to the true value of the company Pay and Culture - Gaslighting is prevalent within the culture at Edge, especially around an employee's value to the business, salary requests, and overall business health. - Majority of employees are dramatically underpaid, whilst the CEO picks up a hefty salary in order to add zero value to the business and go on cycling holidays. - Misogyny is a rampant and prevalent problem within Edge, and it starts at the top
