Pros

Rio and Loki, not much else...

Cons

It's amazing the CEO is responding to these reviews claiming they are malicious when only facts have been stated. The truth may hurt but it is merely a statement of reality, for everyone's benefit, and never malicious. They also imply (arguably maliciously, in a vain attempt to save face) these reviews may not be written by former employees yet they all provide information only a former or current staff members would know. But I'll stop short of publicly listing who got who in the secret Santa... And as for claiming to be friendly and welcoming, any CVs sent in are immediately deleted 'in case there's a virus in the attachment.'. And money is wasted on contacting solicitors to ask if action can be taken against anonymous factual reviews on sites like this. This is a company so ineptly and egotistically run, it will not exist in a few months. All new hires have already been laid off and the blinkered intransigence of its CEO prevents those left from doing their jobs effectively. The ice-berg has been struck, the ship is sinking. No one can safely express an opinion, speaking your mind is dangerous. Only the submissive can work for the CEO who will, whether she knows she's doing it or it, get rid of any employee whom she can not control. Employees are now being threatened with disciplinary action if they mention the company's financial struggles at interviews for other positions! There is no trust, she will hire experienced employees and then demand they work in the office every day, even if it means throwing away hundreds of pounds on taxis and hotels when train strikes happen. One employee from Bath was asked if they could get a train to Reading then get a taxi to and from the office on a train strike day. The expense of this alone to the company was likely more than the employee's weekly salary! Logic is sadly something this CEO can't see. 'Phone is King in sales' she says. But now as the company dies and the only way to save it is to get investors onboard, is she picking up the phone? I doubt it.

Pros

One of the most noteworthy aspects of Edge Retreats is its commitment to transparent communication. The company underwent a recent change in management just before I joined, and it was evident that they were dedicated to improving the workplace environment for employees. Edge Retreats fosters an environment where employees feel comfortable voicing their opinions, raising concerns, and seeking guidance from their immediate superiors. This commitment is exemplified by their approachability and receptiveness to feedback, particularly from supervisors like my boss, Oli Corkhill. Whether it's regarding work-related challenges, career aspirations, or personal concerns, the open-door policy not only builds trust between employees and their supervisors but also ensures that issues are addressed promptly and effectively. Knowing that my boss is always willing to listen and support me has significantly contributed to my job satisfaction and overall well-being at Edge Retreats.

Cons

A personal challenge that I encountered was a lengthy commute to the office. However, the company had a very proactive approach to addressing this issue. They demonstrated a strong commitment to employee well-being by being incredibly flexible with remote working opportunities. This accommodation significantly mitigated the impact of the long commute, allowing me to maintain productivity and work-life balance while reducing the strain associated with daily travel.

Pros

- Fantastic CEO with an impressive record, with a clear vision and courage to take the business into the innovation direction in the luxury market - The challenge of working in a not-for-masses business, guided by luxury - Working for a company that wants to give back to society and is involved in charity actions - Be directly involved in meetings where transparency is the key, and where you'll get the business numbers communicated in a professional way, being given the KPI's and metrics that show how the business is materialising the vision and mission - Be part of team meetings where you'll always learn something new, either in technology, marketing, sales, supply, funding or overall business management - Modern technology stack, working with a very appealing architecture: AWS, Docker, Python/Django, Celery/Flower, React/Redux, PostgreSQL, Redis, Git, Jenkins, Prometheus, Sentry, Mailchimp, Zapier, Typeform, Mixpanel, GA, Segment (to name a few)... in process of introducing Kubernetes and migrating a monolith into a microserviced architecture using RESTful APIs.

Cons

- Fast pace startup environment, meaning you have to fit into that: so be ready to be in a situation where you have a great impact on the business and company growth, you have to be brave, collaborative and an ambassador of the brand.
