Pros

Early Metrics is full of young, collectively ambitious individuals who thrive in a startup environment. A good thing about working here is that they put their full trust in their employees and provide a flexible working environment. This is a place where you will get maximum exposure to the startup ecosystem especially if you work on the sales team. It is a perfect place for anyone who is willing to take their own initiative and be creative in their approach to sales.

Cons

There needs to be some adjustments and improvements made in terms of management structure and some new hires in the sales team. Team morale can be low in the office due to too much flexibility and people travelling etc.

Dear UK team member, Many thanks for the positive feedback on your current work experience with us :) We are happy and proud that you feel empowered in your job as member of the Business Development team. It's important for us to encourage personal initiatives, most of all in emerging markets where our sales approach still need to be refined. Regarding the emptiness of the office in London due to travelers, it's clearly something that we want and need to work on. Maybe in changing the set up of the office but most of all in keeping growing and hiring staff dedicated to the UK market that will travel less. The arrival of Gene as full time Country Manager UK will also help. Keep up with the good work! Antoine

Pros

- Opportunity to meet interesting CEO's and employees of rated startups - Fun team events

Cons

- For being a "technology" VC/startup there is very little use of technology, most of the analysis conducted is based on subjective opinions of people who are not even experts in the industries in which they are rating startups - Everything is micro-managed and there is little space for serious career opportunities

Dear alumni, I am sorry that your experience with us has not met your expectations. However I honestly think that some of the disadvantages you highlights are unfair to: - the results of our backtesting model, showing correlations between ratings and future evolutions of companies - the paths of most of the team members that, unlike you, decided to invest more than 1/2 years into the company - the rise of our tech capacities, both from a product and internal tooling point of view. Anyways, I hope that your time with us has still been useful in terms of learnings and will be serving your next career move. Merci and all the best for your next professional challenge. Antoine

Pros

I was with EM for almost 2 years. I joined the company relatively junior and left the company feeling lightyears ahead of where I was when I arrived. Over the course of my journey, I: - Sourced early stage ventures across multiple industry verticals - Led over 100 in-depth face to face founder 2 hour interviews across Europe. - Trained to conduct in-depth management, commercial and financial analysis including customer and supplier references, competitor analysis - I researched many industry sectors and benchmarked products. I was given the opportunity to focus on the sectors I was personally interested in occasionally. - Built relationships with various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem, growing a network of 200+ entrepreneurs and corporate investors and innovation teams across Europe - I presented startups and my in-depth analyses to dedicated corporate clients (across Europe) including Corporate VCs and Innovation teams - helping them support investment decisions and/or make strategic partnerships. Management provided me with necessary support: - Structured training sessions and many 1-on-1 sessions - Stringent weekly review of my work (continuous) Other pros: - Learnt to think like a investor and an entrepreneur - Mastered digesting complex topics in short period of time - Attained a holistic understanding of business and entrepreneurship - Learnt to present to investors and corporates - Developed a good understanding of certain technologies and the business models surrounding them

Cons

- As with any early stage company, an appetite for self-learning and self-motivation is necessary if you want the experience to be rewarding - Hierarchical and political - Analysts/Associates cannot specialise in a sector of their interest
