Pros
- A lovely place to work, always a good laugh! Thoroughly enjoyed coming to work every weekend. - Great staff, fun managers! - Always congratulated and rewarded when you've gone out of your way to provide great customer service or done lots of overtime. - A great atmosphere to work in as there's always a lot of emphasis on it being a fun environment to shop in and nothing was ever too much trouble. If a child came in and wanted to play with a specific product we would always get it out for them to play with. - There were fun days on Saturdays, which meant me spending a lot of time playing and face painting! - I managed to learn a lot here. I was trained on how to close the store and count the tills. I was really pleased that they did this for me, as I felt they didn't have to as I was only quite young, but they saw my willingness to learn and provided me with that training.
Cons
- Mothercare (who owned ELC) did not care about the early leaning brand enough and very much focused their money and passion on the Mothercare brand alone, killing off the ELC shops and therefore losing my job due to store closure. - They weren't able to place me in any other stores once I'd been made redundant - not the end of the world as I was off to University but I would liked to have continued to work. - Managers were often changed around between stores and this caused confusion. I had a fair few different managers, and often didn't have one at all, throughout the two years I worked there.
