Bad Environment to work in - Drafter ESE Consulting Engineers Employee Review

Pros

Well educated husband and wife in their professions. Very strong structural knowledge...

Cons

...but extremely unprofessional in nearly every other aspect. You are dictated when to come to work, when to take lunch, when to leave. Since it is literally a Ma-N-Pa firm, you are dealing directly with a (Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde) boss and a wife that seems completely unorganized. You can't even rely on when you get your paycheck, whether it's on payday or a day or two after. He screams and yells and has called me stupid, and threatens to fire me, ...etc. He also swears lots (like the f-word) and curses too (like the gd phrase) and can get pissed off at mistakes inconsistently, as in, it depends on his mood, but he is a complete control freak at best, and can be okay on a good day, but a complete jerk on a bad day. You also MUST have a PHD in English, as it is extremely difficult to communicate with this English professor (BTW, he's from Iran) and you have to word things exactly. Extremely stressful - like Mr. Spacely and Mr. Jetson environment. And the lone drafter is Mr. Jetson.

Pros

During my time at Toll Brothers / ESE Engineering, the environment was conducive for teamwork and camaraderie. The cubicles had low walls to facilitate communication with other engineers or AutoCad techs, and all the offices for the PEs were adjacent to each other for easy access to walk in and review designs or brainstorm new ones. The engineers were given custom rulers, scales, and grading tools! The cafeteria was pretty impressive; I recall everyone loving spicy chicken salad day.

Cons

The work was pretty repetitive and/or tedious sometimes. There were not enough opportunities for growth.

Pros

- Nice people bu tunprofessional

Cons

- UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE - Really small company (Wife-Husband-Daughter). When you ask about the number of employee, they say 8-10, but after you start working there, you see there are only three of them plus a drafter. - Unbelievably unreliable company. Don't look at them as a long-term job although they claims at first. - DON'T TRUST THEM IN SEEING THE JOB AS A LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITY. - No commitment to their promises (Salary, Benefits, H-1 visa and green card application) - They pretend they will have you for longterm projects, but after a few months, you will understand there has been only one project that they have needed you for. - I lost all the money I earned in that company since I moved to Benicia and after I completed a project using SAP2000 (The software they barely know about), they asked me to leave and wait for the next project!!! - If you are in a need of a job, go for it but look for jobs in other companies at the same time.
