Pros
I was an intern here this past spring for school credit and I completely enjoyed my time there. I'm actually surprised by all the negative reviews and I think those people are expecting far too much. I was never made to do housekeeping chores and I was never treated badly. I did occasionally go on sample runs but it was never on the verge of being anywhere close to exploitation. Like any job, there were busy days and slow days, some more than others. But I was given research projects and the opportunity to handle social media engagement for ELR's clients. I was regularly thanked and acknowledged by the full time employees and even the owner herself. My experience was a great starting point for what I hope is a future career in fashion PR. It's a very supportive environment and I sincerely hope the company is doing well still. Even now in a new PR intern position, the things I learned at ELR are completely applicable and sometimes I find myself missing the job!
Cons
Slow days in PR are SLOW
Like any school/work balance, sometimes it could be hard and my wallet took a hit from the cost of commuting from NJ, especially since this is an unpaid position.
I wish I wasn't as afraid to speak up more and ask for more tasks!
