Pros
It's a great way to learn valuable management skills. An ever growing company, with pretty stable future. Opportunity for growth for the most part. If you have a strong assistant manager, relatively easy job at times. The pay is okay, but for the amount of work required, could be better. Enormous opportunity to be creative in merchandising. Dollar Tree does not use planograms for the most part. No need to price items, everything is $1 or less. Always two people in building, versus Dollar General allowing managers to be alone.
Cons
No ability to terminate associates outside of having District Manager / HR approval. This means your assistant managers can walk over you because they have no fear. It's a decent amount of physically demanding work if you are in a lower volume store. Store manager does most of the stocking. Very high turnover in hourly associates, because of very low pay and no full time positions outside management.
