Not a good school to work for - Teacher Devon Preparatory School Employee Review

Pros

It's a place where talented teachers work together in order to provide excellent education. There is a FREE warm lunch provided every day.

Cons

Management is done using the old fashioned top-down style. Teachers have no voice. There is no "Academic Council" or other group that consists of elected faculty members who work closely with the school's administration. Criticism of any form is considered inappropriate and will be held against the teacher in upcoming reviews. As a result, there is low morale, frustration, and above average turnover among faculty members. In case a teacher struggles, there is no help, but only warnings, and most likely, the teacher's contract won't get renewed.

Pros

Tons of independence and freedom over your own curriculum, great colleagues, students and parents are respectful of teachers, great sense of community

Cons

Tech policy is not great for the kids: phone use isn't regulated at all (it's even encouraged because of how the school operates); no library!

Pros

Sorry, but I can't think of any.

Cons

Devon Prep will hire you part-time and yet, you will be forced to sit there all day long because of the constantly changing schedule. There is no quiet place to work, so you can't get anything done except wait around for 6 hours in between classes, which are all over the place. Plan to bring a suitcase.
