Pros
If your looking for a lot of exposure, job security and a comfortable work place then you need to come to Damas. You have convenient work timings too. The company is fabulous, an excellent one to add on to your resume. The people you work with are even better. In no time you can fall into the pit of a comfort zone. The market keeps changing and the competition is quite high. Being a luxury segment of retail it needs to be on top of them all. You are provided with an excellent opportunity to learn and can be involved in different projects. Don't get me wrong you can still manage a good work life. The consistent exposure is a drug and you will keep working.
Cons
But working is all you will do! The senior management positions almost all of them are occupied by staffs who have been there too long. They have been promoted and moved up the ladder through the years and some of them only because the previous owners didn't know who else to put into that role. The issue here is that these people lack education and the professionalism and acceptance that comes with it. They have a little bit of an ego so they are reluctant to staff promotions and expect everyone to dance to their tunes because they once did and so moved up.. And its deep in their head that everyone should take the long route like they once had to so the promotion and hikes are very minimal. You would think won't the HR help. Well, the HR team is also quite poor they fail to recognise and reward employees and so the salary, promotion and increments are quite discouraging. They just wont let you move up the ladder in fear of the possible outbreak from other employees and HOD's. The real issue is the HR team lacks qualified HR professionals - who have an understanding of employee retention and satisfaction. Most of them have been staffs who joined in and had no relevant department to go into so why not HR - thats not much of a task. Well only if they knew better. A previous family owned company would obviously have such flaws but as said comfort zone from the people, job security and lack of education have most of them staying where they are.
