Pros
The challenges ultimately outweighed any potential advantages.
Cons
Opportunities to Improve Structure, Culture, and Fairness - I observed ongoing issues related to favoritism and inconsistent standards. Certain employees appeared to receive accelerated promotions, additional PTO, and unique work-from-home privileges that were not offered to others. While the company stated that flexibility was available, the amount of time off and remote work granted varied noticeably between employees, with certain individuals receiving far more accommodation. - There were also situations where unprofessional office behavior was repeatedly left unaddressed, while other employees were held to strict expectations. This contributed to an environment where expectations felt uneven and unclear. - High turnover and difficulty filling open roles placed added pressure on existing staff. The level of disorganization in project management frequently resulted in last-minute work and ongoing urgency. This created stress across teams and made it difficult to plan work effectively. - Feedback was sometimes delivered in a passive-aggressive or overly critical manner, both one-on-one and in group settings. When concerns were raised about behavior that felt overly intense or targeted, the response did not always provide support or resolution. In some cases, the responsibility for addressing the dynamic was placed back on the person experiencing the issue, rather than the source being addressed directly. This left me feeling unsupported at times when I needed leadership guidance the most. Growth, Compensation, and PTO - PTO allotments and access to time off were inconsistent. Internal coverage made it difficult to take time off, especially when others on the team were already out. There were also instances where work was expected on major holidays due to staffing constraints. - Clear growth paths were not defined in some departments, leaving employees to try to outline their own progression without structured guidance. Office & Tools - Required in-office attendance was challenging due to limited space. Workstations were close together, which made the environment feel cramped. Equipment was often basic and prone to performance issues, which affected efficiency. Technology & AI Usage - There was a strong push to use AI tools, but implementation lacked clear ethical and security guidelines. In some cases, client or internal information was shared with AI platforms to manage workload without established protocols, which raised concerns.
