Pros

The work is very easy, most positions are seated, the warehouse is clean and temperature controlled, some people there are friendly and helpful

Cons

Majority of workers are through temp agencies such as Randstad or Aerotek meaning that if you are through a temp agency you will not get the same benefits as those hired on. They say it is a temp to hire position, but they currently rarely hiring people on. I worked there from August 2019 to March 2020 so about 7 months. My points were low, (meaning that I didn't call off or arrive late very often) and I was a diligent worker, often going above what was expected. I was not hired on along with many other temps who worked there. Although many employees and team leads were friendly and nice, it soon became apparent to me that there is a lot of favoritism that comes to play in this work environment. Rules were bent for some employees while others would be treated poorly. I tried to ignore the unfair environment and just continue to do my work. I enjoyed working alongside my coworkers as they made the days better and more manageable. Unfortunately, myself and a large amount of temp workers recieved calls after out shift saying we were not to return to work anymore. There was little explanation. After asking what happened, I was told by my temp agency that there was not much work due to Corona virus pandemic. This did not make much sense to me as they had me working overtime the last 3 weekends prior to this. I came to realize that many other temps were layed off just like me out of nowhere. It seems to me that DB Schenker wanted to save money and decided to cut their workforce down significantly after the governor of PA's warnings that nonessential businesses would need to close down in order to combat the corona virus outbreak. Db schenker found a loophole in this by laying off many of their workers, and having those that remain work 3 feet apart from each other, not sit together at lunch or breaks, etc. Anything to put out more product and make money. Keep in mind this location is most definitely not essential (working on used mobile phones etc) Now I and many others are jobless, and will need to file for unemployment. Not a good way to end my experience at DB Schenker. Truly a shame. I am sure that once this virus is taken care of, and their peak season starts up again they will be hiring like crazy. Just think twice before you apply.
