Pros
The client's are wonderful and the work itself is deeply meaningful. I genuinely value the opportunity to make a difference and have met a few coworkers who are compassionate, hardworking and truly care about the people we serve. Work life balance is also a huge plus.
Cons
What began as a hopeful experience turned into one of the most draining jobs I have ever had and I feel it is time to speak the truth. The internal culture of the administrative team is toxic, with bullying, gossip, and clear favoritism. Certain staff are allowed to behave unprofessionally without consequence, while others have faced retaliation from coworkers fueled by rumors for simply trying to do the right thing. I have watched coworkers make multiple attempts to address the above-mentioned situations. Management was made aware by multiple people but chose not to intervene until it was too late. The lack of accountability and support makes it impossible to feel safe or valued leading to isolation, making the workspace ultimately unbearable for some. Employees who fuel the toxic culture are rewarded with promotions to leadership, while those who are being mistreated are ignored and pushed out. Thus, we have lost some amazing, loyal people, who genuinely care about the clients, Positions have been changed or reassigned without prior discussion, leaving employees blindsided. Some have even been asked to train their replacements, only to learn that the person stepping into the former role will be paid significantly more.
